A striking climbing aroid known for its deep green, leathery leaves that develop dramatic fenestrations as the plant matures. It climbs tightly against surfaces—much like a shingling philodendron—creating a layered, sculptural effect.
Care Guide:
- Prefers bright, indirect light; can tolerate medium light but may lose its shingling habit.
- Avoid direct sun, which can scorch the leaves.
- Water when the top 2–3 cm of soil have dried.
- Keep soil evenly moist, but never soggy.
- Use filtered or distilled water if possible.
- Enjoys moderate to high humidity (50–80%); thrives in terrariums or near humidifiers.
- Ideal temperature: 18–28°C.
- Protect from drafts and cold air.
- Use a chunky, airy aroid mix (orchid bark, perlite, sphagnum).
- Provide a board, moss pole, or cork slab to encourage its natural shingling growth.
Common Issues:
- Leaves not shingling: Light too low or no vertical surface to climb.
- Yellow leaves: Overwatering or poor drainage.
- Brown edges: Low humidity.
- Slow growth: Insufficient light or nutrient-poor soil.
