Exo Terra Infrared Basking Spot Lamp
The ideal way to provide a heat source without the bright white light of a traditional basking lamp.
- Built-in reflector to direct heat to where it is needed
- Infra-red rays provide heat essential for activity and digestion
- Gentle red light is ideal for nocturnal viewing
- Can be combined with a solar basking lamp to create a natural circadian rhythm
Benefits of Infrared Basking Lamps
Whilst traditional heat lamps and solar basking lamps provide heat, they also produce a bright white light. This is great for species that are normally active during the day but can be off-putting to more crepuscular or nocturnal species. They also need to be turned off for half the day to provide that natural day/night circadian rhythm in your enclosure, but when they are off they don't produce heat.
An infra-red heat lamp uses the special filament through the red-tinted glass to provide heat with just a gentle red glow rather than that extreme bright light. This makes it ideal for more nocturnal species, or for continuing to provide heat to your pet without giving them a night-time period.
The Exo-Terra Infra-Red basking spot lamp has a built-in reflector and can be directed to provide heat to specific areas of your setup such as basking rocks or caves. It will also aid the creation of a natural heat gradient for your enclosure, allowing your pet to move towards or away from the heat depending on its metabolic needs.
Combine With A Solar Basking Lamp For UVB
The infra-red basking lamp can be used across a 24 hours period to provide heat and allow you to view your pets nocturnal activities. If you are keeping a species that is normally active during daylight hours you should also provide a source of UVB light such as a solar spot lamp to ensure they are able to absorb the correct wavelengths of light to support their overall health.
