What Is Coco Husk
Coco husk is a natural, organic material derived from the fiborous hulls of coconuts. It is highly porous, absorbing water then releasing it back into the atmosphere as it is heated. Exo Terra's coco husk is harvested from plantatians in Asia and dried into compact blocks for you to use in your terrarium or vivarium.
What Kind Of Setups Can This Be Used In?
Because coco husk releases moisture as it is warmed, it is great for tropical rainforest enclosures. You can use it to cover the complete floor of your setup as it is safe for burrowing animals and encourages thier natural behaviours. Alternatively, add it is an extra layer over other substrates to futher enhance humidity levels. Coco husk can be used in planted setups with live plants as well as bioactives enclosures.
How To Use Coco Husk
Your coco husk is supplied in a dried, compacted block, so 7L arrives as a block about half a kilo in weight. Simply break off chunks and soak in water for several hours so it expands. Check back regularly to add extra water if what you've put in already has been absorbed and the husk is still dry. Once it has all expanded, simply drain away any excess water and transfer it to your enclosure. Store any unused, unexpanded husk in a sealed bag somewhere dry until you need to make some more.
