Why You Need A Cricket Pen

Keeping your crickets (and some other livefoods) in a specialised container is a great way to keep them healthier. It can save on storage space as you won't have all those small plastic tubs everywhere, and it prevents dust and waste from your livefood 'leaking' out of the ventilation holes, so it reduces overall mess.

It also makes it easier to feed crickets and livefood to your pets. The animals climb into the tubes so you simple take a tub out and tap it gently into the vivarium to encourage the crickets inside to leave. This means you aren't tipping the waste from the plastic tubs into your pets home, and will significantly reduce the amount of times you need to chase and escapee from your livefood tubs.

How To Use A Cricket Pen

When your crickets arrive tip them into the base of the cricket pen and include some of the cardboard for cover. Pop your bowls into the pen, one to hold insect food and the other to hold moisture balls like bug gel. Keep these on top o the carboard if possible to prevent debris entering the bowls as your crickets explore.

Fit the lid to the top of the pen. It has a small plastic window that can be opened to remove the dishes for cleaning plus handles for easy transportation. At feeding time, simply pull a tube from the cricket pen and shake the contents into the vivarium. A flap falls down over the gap where the tube is removed to prevent escapes. When you've finished feeding, you can simply put the tube back into the pen and the flap lifts up out of the way.

Make sure you clean your cricket pen regularly to prevent the build up of waste and debris. Allow it to dry fully before reintroducing your live food. You can either clean your pen inbetween livefood deliveries, or transfer the contents to another pen or faunarium.

When in use, keep your cricket pen at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperature changes.
