Take the guesswork out of replacing UVB lighting in your vivarium by using this Solarmeter Radiometer.
- Simple to use
- Ensures your vivarium has the right levels of UVB light for reptile health
- Can save resources by ensuring you change bulbs at the right time
Why Use A Radiometer
The correct level of UVB lighting in your vivarium is essential to help your reptiles product vitamin D and to prevent behavioural and physical problems with your pet. There are many types of vivarium lighting that will produce UVB but the amount of UVB it produces will diminish over time. The problem is, we can't see UVB light, so whilst the bulb may be lit and producing visible light, its usefulness in terms of UVB production could be minimal.
Up until now, the only way to ensure your bulb was producing UVB light at the right level was to replace it before the chance of those levels diminishing arose. As well as producing more waste for landfill, this is potentially a costly element of reptile keeping for pet owners as the bulb may have still been OK.
Now, by using a Radiometer, it is possible to reduce the amount of times you need to purchase a new bulb by testing the UVB light your current bulb is emitting. This means you could keep your bulbs for longer whilst ensuring your pet remains in optimal health.
How To Use
The Radiometer is battery operated (9v) so you don't need to worry about organising extra wires and plugs around your vivariums. To use, simply turn the bulb on and wait 15 minutes for it to be fully warmed up. Turn on the Radiometer and aim the sensor window directly and the bulb whilst pressing and holding the switch. The level of UV produced by the light is shown digitally on the screen so you can compare that to your pet's needs.
